the bdd has taken the region title in football (haysi), basketball (tv), baseball (haysi), softball (honaker) and has the fastest sprinters in track (from haysi) 100 and 200- counts, 110 hurdles and 400- powers. its been a great year.

YES IT WAS A GOOD YEAR FOR THE BDD. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A DISTRICT SWEPT THE 3 MAJOR SPORTS (FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL)FOR THE REGION TITLES? DOES ANYBODY KNOW??

The BDD has never swept the big three sports in the region. Haysi's baseball title is the first a BDD team has ever won.

In '99-'00 Honaker won the region in football and Council won it in boys basketball. Honaker may also have won it softball that year. It was either that year or the year before that.

Sorry to be the reality check here but the BDD only won one of the two region D championships in football. Given the fact that the BDD had teams compete in Div 1 then the BDD needed to win that to be able to claim a sweep of the regional titles. However three out of four is great. I am proud of the BDD.

I don't really pay much attention to Div 1 football. I always consider the true regional football champ whoever wins Div 2 unless the Div 1 winner defeated the Div 2 winner in the regular season. Its just so much tougher to win a Div 2 championship than it is a Div 1. Its going to be either Burton or Appy about every year...every now in the Rye Cove will sneak in there but its rare. That being said I miss the old days when there were no split divisions...if you were single A you were single A.

Or at the very least, if you are Division 2, you play in a district with other Division 2 teams. Virginia needs "football only" districts/regions/classes badly. Or like james said, just get rid of the divisions!

I dont understand why the VHSL doesnt just switch to a 5A system with a set number of students for each group -400 401-800 801-1200 1201-2000 2001- just my idea everyone has their own idea I guess

I would vote for your proposal redtiger. I would also say that if your enrollment numbers change then you would have a 2 year window that you could keep playing in your former classification if you wish before you have to move.
